Jami Simon (SAG-AFTRA/AEA) is a native Iowan. Jami’s New York Theatre credits include, “That Time of Year,” (Pulse Ensemble Theatre); “The Rimers of Eldritch”, “Say Darling” and “My Sister Eileen,” (West End Theatre); “What About Love” (Off Broadway); “Swan Song” (Salt & Pepper Theatre); “Love Doctor” (The Open Book); “Living History” (Citykids); “Cinderella’s Christmas” (Fanfare Theatre Ensemble); “Little Red – Girl From the Hood” (NY Artists Unltd.); “St. Petersburg” (Playwrights Circle); and “Fred the Caterpillar, “Baby Vaudeville”, and “Grandma’s Poems” (tours).TV credits include “Saturday Night Live”, “As the World Turns”, “All My Children”, “Law & Order”, “Reading Rainbow” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien”. Film credits include “Working Girl”, “12 Monkeys”, “Eyes of a Blue Dog” & “The Oracle”.
Her writing credits include NCTE Achievement Award in Writing for “Vines By the Road” and “American Dream”; a Writers Digest Honorable Mention for her 3 person play , “Like a Poet’s Dream”; 3 Manhattan Community Arts Fund Grants for “Fred the Caterpillar”, “Baby Vaudeville” and “Grandma’s Poems”, 2 writing commissions from the Brooklyn Public Library and CLASP (Connecting Libraries & Schools Project); a Pen & Brush 2nd prize for “Between the Sheets”; a Puffin Foundation Grant for her Joy of Reading Series; & her Master’s Thesis, “Episodes”, was published by the University of Oregon at Eugene. Her poetry has been published in the Chicago Economist, the Des Moines Register, Scratchpad, and performed at The West End Theatre. Her one acts have been performed at Holmdel Theatre, Playwrights Circle, Phipps Plaza, Salt & Pepper Theatre, the Tri-State Actors Theatre & for the Twelfth Night Club.
Most recently, she & her acting partner, Tom Godfrey, have performed her 2-person comedy revue, “Two For the Show” (which is a takeoff on old-time radio), everywhere from recreation centers & schools to senior centers & nursing homes, plus Don’t Tell Mama, Emerging Artists Theatre & Shawnee Playhouse.
